Letter #1804

Ioannes DANTISCUS to Katarina, Abbess of the Benedictine monastery in Kulm
Löbau (Lubawa), 1537-11-27

English register: Dantiscus explains that the royal letter he has received (in the form of a copy), exempting the convent estate [of the Benedictine nuns in Kulm] from excise tax is not applicable to the tax currently being collected on malt brought to the mill, in the amount of two shillings per korzec. This tax is mandatory for everyone, so the Bishop cannot exempt the convent from it.
