Letter #2036

Stephanus TOBIE to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Löbau (Lubawa), 1539-01-09

English register:

Stephanus Tobie extends thanks for the alms Dantiscus has provided to him and his fellow friars.

He has not managed to find out anything about the financial matters at the cathedral (ecclesia) — those managing the church funds (vitrici) fear the administrator (dispensator generalis ecclesiae). If they continue to he harassed on this matter, they will turn to Dantiscus for help.

He asks for help with buying two copies (for himself and for the father custodian) of the book Contemplationes Ideotae which he looked through cursorily when he visited Dantiscus. He hopes Dantiscus’ messenger will be able to order it when he travels to Cracow.

He assures Dantiscus that he and his fellow friars never forget him in their prayers.

            received [1539]-01-17
