Dantiscus expresses thanks for the help Hozjusz extended to his nephew [Kaspar Hannau] in completing the tasks he had been given. He is curious what Hannau is managing to achieve in Rome on the matter of Alexander [Sculteti].

If Dantiscus’ poem (neniae) has not been printed yet, he would prefer it to remain so, because he did not write it for fame but in response to the young man’s [Eustathius Knobelsdorf’s] challenge. He is aware of the shortcomings of his poetic skills and he lacks the leisure to polish the piece.

Dantiscus assures Hozjusz that so far there are no obstacles regarding his cantorship; he promises his support if Alexander should obtain documents favourable to him in Rome.

Dantiscus asks to be commended to the Vice-Chancellor [Samuel Maciejowski]. He is amazed that he employed someone at his chancellery who is abusive towards everyone (plurimos).
