Letter #1447

Matthias, Abbot of the Cistercian monastery in Koronowo to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Koronowo, 1536-05-05

English register: Abbot Matthias describes the circumstances of the death of Matthias, guardian [of the Franciscans] in Kulm: he arrived at the Koronowo convent on the Saturday before Palm Sunday; he did not celebrate Mass on Sunday because he was ill — he had signs of assault all over his body. He suffered all the following week and then, having received the Paschal blessing, he passed away.
