Regest polski:

Zgodnie z poleceniem króla [Zygmunta Augusta] rada miasta Elbląga wyprawiła posłów na pogrzeb starszego króla [Zygmunta I] w stronę Krakowa, gdzie mają także załatwiać sprawy swojego miasta z władcą. Jak zwykle poprosili Dantyszka, aby polecił ich opiece adresata.

Są przekonani, że mogą oczyścić miasto z zarzutów stawianych przez nieprzychylne mu osoby przed królem i radą królewską jedynie dzięki zaświadczeniu o jego niewinności przez adresata. Posłowie przedstawią adresatowi wystarczające uzasadnienie tej kwestii. Dantyszek prosi o udzielenie im wsparcia.

Miasto zasługuje na ochronę przed niesprawiedliwością wyrządzaną przez liczne osoby, które podżegają mieszczan do niepodporządkowywania się radzie. Pod ich wpływem wielu mieszkańców odmawia podlegania jurysdykcji rady oraz stawania przed sądem. Uzyskawszy odpowiednie pisma, udają się bezpośrednio na dwór, gdzie przedstawiają adresatowi nieprawdziwe relacje. W ten sposób uzyskują mandaty królewskie i listy żelazne, co powoduje trudności dla rady i prowadzi do naruszenia porządku w mieście.

Dantyszek nie pisałby tego, gdyby nie był o tym przekonany. Prosi adresata o danie wiary jego słowom i tym chętniejsze podjęcie się obrony rady, aby zjednać jej króla, być może zniechęconego przez zniewagi wielu osób, oraz aby mogła zgodnie ze zwykłym obyczajem zarządzać powierzoną jej przez jego poprzedników wspólnotą. Jeśli adresatowi uda się to uzyskać, uspokoi wspólnotę miejską i zyska jej dozgonną wdzięczność.

W przypadku spóźnienia posłów na pogrzeb Dantyszek prosi, aby adresat nie przypisywał im za to winy. W Prusach Królewskich oczekiwano bowiem zwołania sejmu przez króla przed sejmem Królestwa Polskiego. Oczekiwała na niego także rada miasta Elbląga, co spowodowało zwłokę. Dantyszek prosi, aby adresat usprawiedliwił w tej sprawie posłów przed królem i ich zarekomendował.
