Letter #2066
Ioannes DANTISCUS to Tiedemann GIESEHeilsberg (Lidzbark Warmiński), 1539-02-01
English register:
Dantiscus is happy with the letter Giese has composed to the King [Sigismund I Jagiellon]. Since Fabian [Wojanowski (Damerau)] does not intend to return to the [royal] court anytime soon, he advises that a different, reliable messenger be found, who would also bring back a reply.
Dantiscus suggests that Giese acquaint the Dean of Cracow [Samuel Maciejowski] with the matter. He assures him that Maciejowski’s failure to reply to Giese’s previous letter was due exclusively to the pressures of the Dean’s many duties.
