Letter #3299
[Ioannes DANTISCUS] & [part of the Royal Prussia' Council] to Sigismund I Jagiellon[Heilsberg (Lidzbark)?], 1547-12-21
English register:
Rumours regarding the hostile intentions of the master in Germany [Wolfgang Schutzbar Milchling] have reached the council of Royal Prussia; these were partly circulated within Prussia and partly conveyed by the neighbour [Albrecht von Hohenzollern], who had been informed of them by his friends. The threat is all the more serious as the master in Livonia [Hermann von Brüggenei] has ordered his subjects to be in a state of military readiness.
Some of the councillors have decided that the matter should be presented to the king on behalf of the entire council. Since it also concerns the neighbour, they postulate that he be summoned to the diet of the Kingdom for a joint discussion on ways to prevent the threat or to potentially repel it.
Dantiscus presents this advice at the suggestion of certain members of the council of Royal Prussia.
