Letter #4831

Ioannes DANTISCUS to Ermland (Warmia) Chapter
Heilsberg (Lidzbark), 1541-08-30

English register:

In a letter to Dantiscus from Rome dated 27 June, his nephew, Kaspar Hannau, reported that he had spent 100 ducats on matters concerning the Ermland (Warmia) chapter. Following Dantiscus’ instructions, he had withdrawn the money from the Fuggers. Dantiscus would cover half of this amount, since he regarded the matters in question as common to both himself and the chapter. The other half was to be covered by the chapter. Dantiscus counted toward this the 30 ducats that the chapter had allocated to be sent to Andrea Grape, leaving 20 ducats still to be disbursed.

In accordance with the Fuggers’ requirements, the amount is to be sent in Prussian groschen (grossi nostril), calculated at 47 groschen to 1 ducat. The Ermland chapter will be informed of the details by the administrator of Allenstein (Olsztyn), Achatius Trenck.
