Mercurinus in hoc iacet sepulcro
Gattinarius, omnium perenne
Virtutum specimen, vir acris omni
In re iudicii, sagax et aequus
5
Legum cultor, agens nihil favore
Aut donis, odio metuve, totus
Verax, candidus integerque vixit
Ore, consilio, fidelitate.
Cancellarius et diu supremus
10
Fuit caesaris; hinc rubro galero
Decorus. Sed erat sub hoc honore
Parvo tempore: Caesarem per Alpes
Ad Oenum gelidas secutus aeger,
Afflictus iacuit gravi podagra,
15
Quam multos habuit prius per annos.
In hac iam tenuem ex dolore vitam,
Solutus cruciatibus, reliquit
Lustris iam prope tredecim peractis.
Et nunc perpetua quiete gaudet,
20
Quam bonis Deus omnibus paravit.
