Valdés is pleased that Dantiscus has arrived safely but regrets that he was late as this prevented them from meeting. He sends his regards to Marliano whom he envies for being able to enjoy Dantiscus' company.

Quod salvus adveneris, gaudeo, quod tardius - doleo, tua enim tarditate me tua consuetudine, qua nihil mihi iucundius, et privasti hactenus et in praesenti privas.
