Letter #3090
[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to [Ermland (Warmia) Chapter]s.l., 1547-05-21
English register:
Dantiscus sends Ioannes Ursus back to the canons. Having first been punished by Dantiscus for his transgressions, both on the canons’ complaint and on Dantiscus own authority, he was subsequently acquitted by him in a final verdict. Dantiscus encloses his with the present letter.
Since Ursus appeared before Dantiscus and pledged to mend his ways and not to be a burden to anyone, the bishop left him in possession of the parish of Tolksdorf (Tołkiny) and remitted his financial penalty. Dantiscus informs the canons of this so that they may be acquainted with the final resolution of the matter, so that Ursus cannot spread false information, as is his habit, and finally so that they may recognise him as parish priest of Tolksdorf.
