Letter #3116

[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to [Samuel MACIEJOWSKI]
Heilsberg (Lidzbark), 1547-06-11

English register:

In the previous year, Dantiscus recommended to the addressee the case of Achatius Grabow against the abbot [Jodocus Kron] and the monastery of Pelplin, in which Grabow had lodged an appeal to the king [Sigismund I Jagiellon]. The king referred the matter for consideration to the court and city council of Gdańsk (Danzig). There, Grabow presented materials collected from the proceedings and obtained a ruling from the court, but not from the council. He is going to the royal court once more, as he expects to obtain a definitive verdict from the king.

Dantiscus asks the addressee to support Grabow, so that the king may issue a definitive verdict or that an agreement acceptable to Grabow may be reached between the parties.
