Letter #3408
[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to Eustathius [KNOBELSDORF]Heilsberg (Lidzbark), 1548-07-19
English register:
Dantiscus has received a list of debts of the deceased parish priest of Grosse Lichtenau (Lichnowy) [Thomas Roseler], who has died intestate. The list is enclosed with the letter. Neither the liabilities nor the remaining goods can be allocated to pay for the construction of the church, for which the parishioners, and not the parish priest, are responsible. Dantiscus is retaining the list, and requests the addressee immediately to send an inventory of all personal effects and cattle belonging to the deceased. He will dispose of those assets in keeping with his episcopal prerogative regarding the property of clerics who died intestate.
