Letter #3920

[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to Tiedemann GIESE
Heilsberg (Lidzbark), 1545-06-29

English register:

Dantiscus had a conversation with the judge of Kulm (Chełmno) [Jerzy Plemięcki], who came to him with Łukasz Głuchowski, the bearer of the addressee’s letter. Plemięcki appears to be seeking the addressee’s goodwill. When Dantiscus presented him with a declaration concerning the granting [to his son Bartłomiej] of the first vacant [canonry], he stated that he would accept Giese’s proposal provided he had his son’s authorisation in the matter. He promised to write to him again on this matter and to inform Giese of the reply. He asked Dantiscus to intercede on his behalf with him, should he have caused him any offence.
