Letter #325

Cornelis DE SCHEPPER to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Valladolid, 1527-02-03

English register:

De Schepper submits his reply to some questions by the Chancellor [Mercurino Gattinara] to the advice of Dantiscus, before sending it to the Chancellor. He requests discretion when returning the letter.

De Schepper is grateful for the financial support he received from the Chancellor, while waiting for news from his Antwerp bankers. He also sends Dantiscus a more recent letter from the Chancellor, with commentary attached to it.

Louis of Flanders has promised to recommend De Schepper to the Emperor [Charles V] for a commission in Italy, as he will be accompanying the Chancellor there. Louis of Flanders advised him to approach the Chancellor first.

De Schepper is recovering from an illness, which is currently preventing him from acting.

Clarissimo Domino Ioanni Dantisco, illustrissimi Poloniae regis oratori, patri meo cumprimis observando

AAWO, AB, f. 13r

Salutem.

Interim me tibi commendo.

Fuit heri apud me dominus Ludo(vicus) a Flandria, dominus a Prato. Is pollicetur mihi operam suam apud Karolum caesarem, commissio uti aliqua tradatur in Italiam profecturo mihi cum cancellario. Prius tamen, ait, ubi restitutus sanitati fuero, transigendus cum cancellario animusque illius resciendus. Tum demum se apud caesarem obiturum officium amici.

Bene vale.

Ex Valle Oleti, III-o Februarii XX anno MDXXVII-o.

Tuus, quem nosti, Cornelius
