Dantyszek napomina opata Macieja, aby trzymał się prawdy swoich wcześniejszych oświadczeń w sprawie drastycznych okoliczności śmierci Macieja, gwardiana [franciszkanów] w Chełmnie. Przytacza te zeznania, a także słowa spowiednika zmarłego, wypowiedziane w obecności adresata podczas ich wspólnej wizyty u Dantyszka, dotyczące powierzenia przez zmarłego Bogu zemsty na mordercy i jego pomocnikach.

Na podstawie tamtych oświadczeń Dantyszek wszczął proces w sprawie morderstwa. Dantyszek ostrzega opata Macieja, że odwoła się do autorytetu prymasa Królestwa Polskiego. Nowe oświadczenie o upadku gwardiana do rowu przy piecu koło łaźni jako o rzekomej przyczynie jego śmierci Dantyszek uważa za kłamstwo. Ostrzega opata przed grzechem przeciwko Duchowi Świętemu i karą bożą za kłamstwo. Domaga się odpowiedzi, ponieważ nie chce działać pochopnie.
