Es habenn uns die ersamenn / unnd weise / unnsere liebe getreue, / Königsberg Town Council burgermeÿstere unnd rethe unnser dreyer stethe KonigsbergkKönigsberg Town Council furbracht, / wie unnser tieff etwas harten schadenn, durch grosse sturme darab allerley gemeyner nachteyl zubefharenn / unnd solchenn gemeynen nucz landenn / unnd leuthen zum bestenn pillich vorzukommen / und gutes aufsehens, / auff das hierinnen umb eines cleinen willenn nicht etwas, / welchs / hernachmals schwerlich herwider zu pringenn vorlasset, nehm habenn uns demnnach underthanigs v paper damaged[v]v paper damagedleis an E(uer) L(ieb) weil ihnen das tyff allein widerumb auffzurichtenn schwer / unnd dem gemeÿnenn sprichwort nach mit viler zuthat ein wergk leichtlich volendet werdenn kan zu dem auch dannocht Citizens of Braunsberg die vom BraunspergkCitizens of Braunsberg sampt andere E(uer) L(ieb) stifftgenossenn, / soch des tiffenn zu irem bestenn auch geprauchenn, / damyt bemelthe E(uer) L(ieb) undtersassenn inen selbst zu gut zu erhaltung des obgedachtenn tiffs, / auch eynn steuer. / wo nicht anders ihe mit dielenn, / thetenn zuvorschreybenn angelangt. / Als habenn / wir in betrachtung gemeyner wolfart, / daneben, das wir bericht wie in ehezeithenn dergleichenn steure auch bescheenn seynn sollenn, / ihnenn solch ir pithenn nicht abschlagenn wollenn. /

Bithenn dennach gancz freuntlichenn E(uer) L(ieb) wolle das obengedochte nicht weniger weder wir freuntlichenn / erwegenn unnd bemeltenn ihrenn undterthanenn dahynn vormogenn auff das sye sych wie gemelt ihnenn selbest zum bestenn, / eyner zimlichen steuer zu solchem notwendigenn paw nicht weigern. / Das wirt E(uer) L(ieb) sonnder zweyffel zu merglichem rum gereichenn. / So seynn wirs umb E(uer) L(ieb) freuntlichenn neben gedachtenn unnsernn underthanenn zuvorgleichenn / unnd zuvordienenn / geneygt. /

In 1525, the Order’s last Grand Master, Albrecht von Hohenzollern, converted to Lutheranism and became the first lay duke in former Teutonic Prussia (dux in Prussia), which from then on was called Ducal Prussia (Prussia Ducalis).
