Letter #5618
Fabian WOJANOWSKI (DAMERAU) to Ioannes DANTISCUSCracow (Kraków), 1537-03-21
English register:
On February 23rd, Wojanowski delivered his own letter and that of the Count [Hendrik III] Nassau to Dantiscus through Fabian von Zehmen (Cema). This time, he has used a royal messenger who is carrying a document authorizing Fabian von Zehmen to place his candidate in charge of the church in Stargard (litterae iuspatronatus ecclesiae Stargardiensis).
The Queen [Bona] is in bed due to a catarrh and cough. The Archbishop [Andrzej Krzycki (Andreas Cricius)] is still ill. Doctors and surgeons, specialising in treating the French disease, attend to him.
Wojanowski, following Dantiscus’ orders, assists Hieronymus Vietor but so far without any visible results.
The rulers (principes) [the King and Queen] plan to visit Częstochowa and the Święty Krzyż in May.
[Nikolaus] Nibschitz, contrary to his usual habits and character, stays in the countryside. Wojanowski plans to visit him in Bodzanów the next day for a couple of days, trying to recover out in nature from the weakness caused by recent excessive drinking at the carnival.
