Letter #1783

Ioannes [DANTISCUS] to [Kaspar HANNAU]
Löbau (Lubawa), 1537-11-16

English register: Dantiscus thanks Hannow for his extensive congratulatory letter written with great erudition. He noticed that the letter’s style was not original, but he thinks it right that a learner should borrow from others what he lacks himself. He praises Hannow’s studies of Greek and dialectics and encourages him to study hard. He has asked Georg Hegel to supply him with money to pay his teachers. Dantiscus’ brother Bernard will inform Hannow about other matters that need dealing with.
