Letter #1856

Ioannes DANTISCUS to Ermland (Warmia) Chapter
Heilsberg (Lidzbark Warmiński), 1538-05-23

English register:

Dantiscus wishes the Chapter would transfer the custodianship, which is vacant after Tiedemann Giese’s move to the Kulm (Chełmno) bishopric, to Felix Reich as soon as possible.

As regards the matter of Stanisław Hozjusz (Hosius), he has presented it orally to Reich, who will submit it to the Chapter on the Bishop’s behalf.

Unfortunately poor health does not allow Dantiscus to come to Frauenburg (Frombork) before his departure [on his diplomatic mission to Ferdinand I of Habsburg]. He asks the canons to pray that his journey be auspicious.
