Ioannes DANTISCUS to Ermland (Warmia) Chapter
Löbau (Lubawa), 1537-11-17

English register: Dantiscus thanks the Ermland Chapter for their congratulations on the papal permission to administrate the bishopric estate before he receives the provision bulla. He informs them that he has notified Tiedemann Giese of the planned time and route of his journey to Warmia. He demands the election capitulations that he pledged to in connection with the unrealized coadjutorship, which the Chapter was supposed to send him.

[1] From the mid-15th century the Warmia Chapter presented every bishop elect with election capitulations (the articuli iurati) for him to sign. These obligated the bishop to defend the rights and privileges of the Church in Warmia and to recognize that the Chapter and the bishop were partnersin managing the diocese.
