Letter #3192
[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to Martin ALLEXWANGENHeilsberg (Lidzbark), 1547-[08]-20
English register:
Dantiscus thanks the addressee for his letter, in which he relays news concerning the Council [of Trent]. He asks the addressee to send him reports from the court [of King Sigismund I] more frequently, as well as news reaching the court from elsewhere, whenever he receives any.
He emphasises his gratitude and assures him that he is concerned for his advancement. He mentions his earlier letter to doctor [Stanisław] Hozjusz (Hosius) regarding the addressee. Hozjusz replied to him that, given favourable circumstances, he would recommend him to Bishop [and Chancellor Samuel Maciejowski]. Dantiscus has now renewed his request to Hozjusz in this matter.
Finally, he entreats the addressee not to cease giving him pleasure with his letters.
