Letter #3295
[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to Sigismund I JagiellonHeilsberg (Lidzbark), 1547-12-20
English register:
Mikołaj Płotowski is setting out for the court of the two kings [Sigismund I Jagiellon and Sigismund Augustus]. His virtues are well-known to the addressee, nevertheless he has approached Dantiscus with a request for his recommendation. Dantiscus hereby grants his request.
Płotowski will present the situation in Royal Prussia to the king, as well as the state of Dantiscus’ health. The latter is becoming increasingly frail. In contrast to the former years spent in the royal service, he now endures travel with difficulty. He promises to serve the king with devotion, if not with the strength of his body, then at least with his mind.
