Letter #2066

Ioannes DANTISCUS to Tiedemann GIESE
Heilsberg (Lidzbark Warmiński), 1539-02-01

English register:

Dantiscus is happy with the letter Giese has composed to the King [Sigismund I Jagiellon]. Since Fabian [Wojanowski (Damerau)] does not intend to return to the [royal] court anytime soon, he advises that a different, reliable messenger be found, who would also bring back a reply.

Dantiscus suggests that Giese acquaint the Dean of Cracow [Samuel Maciejowski] with the matter. He assures him that Maciejowski’s failure to reply to Giese’s previous letter was due exclusively to the pressures of the Dean’s many duties.

Scio illum in iis omnem daturum operam.

Reverendissimae Dominationis Vestrae frater deditissimus Ioannes episcopus Varmiensis scripsit
