Letter #3368

Adrianus, abbot of Cistercian monastery in Oliwa to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Oliwa, 1548-05-13

English register: Abbot Adrianus and the other interested parties, following Dantiscus’ advice, sent the apostolic breve (and the letter containing the advice) to the Bishop of Cracow [Samuel Maciejowski]. Having read the breve, he sent it back to the monks, instructing them to pass on the document and a request for support [in their conflict with the Włocławek cathedral chapter] directly to Dantiscus. The Bishop of Cracow also enclosed a letter to Dantiscus. Abbot Adrianus, [following the Cracow Bishop’s suggestions], asks Dantiscus to undertake to defend the monks’ interests.
