Reverendissime in Christo Pater et Domine, domine mihi colendissime et perpetuo observande.

Servitiorum meorum sedulam commendationem et omnem prosperitatem etc.

Ex Reverendissimae Dominationis Vestrae amantissimis litteris, tum ex domini Alexander Sculteti (Scholtcze) (*ca. 1485 – †1570), doctor of canon law, cartographer, historian and friend of Copernicus; accused by Dantiscus and Stanisław Hozjusz (Hosius) of Sacramentarian heresy, in 1540 banished by King Sigismund I Jagiellon; in 1541 imprisoned by the Inquisition in Rome; after release from prison in 1544 he stayed in Rome for the rest of his life; 1509-1516 notary at the Roman Curia; 1519-1541 Canon of Ermland (Warmia), 1530-1539 Chancellor of the Ermland Chapter; 1536-1538 administrator of the komornictwo of Mehlsack (Melzak, today Pieniężno) (KOPICZKO 2, p. 299; SBKW, p. 219-220)AlexandriAlexander Sculteti (Scholtcze) (*ca. 219-220) relatione intellexi, quo in statu nunc sint res, quae tractantur, quidque exspectandum nobis sit ad legationem Ermland Chapter cathedral chapter based in Frauenburg (Frombork, Varmia)capituliErmland Chapter cathedral chapter based in Frauenburg (Frombork, Varmia).

Nam visus est reverendissimus Jan Chojeński (*1486 – †1538), 1523 royal secretary, 1526-1537 Grand Secretary; 1531-1535 Bishop of Przemyśl, 1535-1537 Bishop of Płock, 1537-1538 Bishop of Cracow, 1537-1538 Grand Chancellor of the Crown (WYCZAŃSKI 1990, p. 248-249; PSB 3, p. 396-399)dominus PlocensisJan Chojeński (*1486 – †1538), 1523 royal secretary, 1526-1537 Grand Secretary; 1531-1535 Bishop of Przemyśl, 1535-1537 Bishop of Płock, 1537-1538 Bishop of Cracow, 1537-1538 Grand Chancellor of the Crown (WYCZAŃSKI 1990, p. 248-249; PSB 3, p. 396-399) hoc apud dominum Alexander Sculteti (Scholtcze) (*ca. 219-220)AlexandrumAlexander Sculteti (Scholtcze) (*ca. 219-220) urgere, quod ego, nisi vellemus rem omnem in praeceps dare, censeo prorsus fugiendum.

Philonides ille noster audiens heri, quae reverendissimus Jan Chojeński (*1486 – †1538), 1523 royal secretary, 1526-1537 Grand Secretary; 1531-1535 Bishop of Przemyśl, 1535-1537 Bishop of Płock, 1537-1538 Bishop of Cracow, 1537-1538 Grand Chancellor of the Crown (WYCZAŃSKI 1990, p. 248-249; PSB 3, p. 396-399)dominus PlocensisJan Chojeński (*1486 – †1538), 1523 royal secretary, 1526-1537 Grand Secretary; 1531-1535 Bishop of Przemyśl, 1535-1537 Bishop of Płock, 1537-1538 Bishop of Cracow, 1537-1538 Grand Chancellor of the Crown (WYCZAŃSKI 1990, p. 248-249; PSB 3, p. 396-399) in hanc rem apud dominum Alexander Sculteti (Scholtcze) (*ca. 219-220)AlexandrumAlexander Sculteti (Scholtcze) (*ca. 219-220) disseruisset, mire excanduit, ut paulum afuerit ab amentia.

Sapit Reverendissima Dominatio Vestra, quid dicam. Quod igitur velim, hoc est, ut Reverendissima Dominatio Vestra non exspectato illo cubiculario quamprimum mittat ad reverendissimum Jan Chojeński (*1486 – †1538), 1523 royal secretary, 1526-1537 Grand Secretary; 1531-1535 Bishop of Przemyśl, 1535-1537 Bishop of Płock, 1537-1538 Bishop of Cracow, 1537-1538 Grand Chancellor of the Crown (WYCZAŃSKI 1990, p. 248-249; PSB 3, p. 396-399)dominum PlocensemJan Chojeński (*1486 – †1538), 1523 royal secretary, 1526-1537 Grand Secretary; 1531-1535 Bishop of Przemyśl, 1535-1537 Bishop of Płock, 1537-1538 Bishop of Cracow, 1537-1538 Grand Chancellor of the Crown (WYCZAŃSKI 1990, p. 248-249; PSB 3, p. 396-399), qui efficiat, ut Sigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of Austriasacra regia maiestasSigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of Austria ad diem constitutum omnino mittat iuxta pacta nominatos quattuor ac regia via rem prosequatur.

Nescio, quid persuaserit Reverendissimae Dominationi Vestrae domini Alexander Sculteti (Scholtcze) (*ca. 219-220) curiositas de iterando iureiurando, cuius rei mentionem ab aliis non audivi fieri.

Res sine illo curabitur. Et dum recte me recolligo, nescio, cur Reverendissima Dominatio Vestra profundere velit hos sumptus, ut Rome (Roma), city in central Italy, on the Tiber river, seat of the Holy SeeRomamRome (Roma), city in central Italy, on the Tiber river, seat of the Holy See mittatur pro negotio, quod domino Dietrich von Rheden (Teodoryk Reden) (*1492 – †1556), doctor of both canon and civil law.

Ego iam occasionem a coepto discedendi aucupavi finge... me ex litteris Reverendissimae Dominationis Vestrae intellexisse, quod ipsa vellet omnium illorum sumptuum, qui in illa profectione et negotio impendendi sunt, dimidium in me reicere, quod me prorsus recusaturum dicebam ac de hoc me scripturum ad Reverendissimam Dominationem Vestram, quandoquidem possem mea negotia citra hoc dispendium per aliquem Rome (Roma), city in central Italy, on the Tiber river, seat of the Holy SeeRomaeRome (Roma), city in central Italy, on the Tiber river, seat of the Holy See praesentem expedire. Inde posset Reverendissima Dominatio Vestra, si mutandam sententiam decreverit, materiam sumere discedendi a priori consilio.
