Letter #1848

Ioannes DANTISCUS to Ermland (Warmia) Chapter
Heilsberg (Lidzbark Warmiński), 1538-04-18

English register:

Dantiscus is sending a copy of his correspondence with the Cantor [Johannes Tymmermann] and asks for a resolution of the dispute over whether such reservations may be placed on pay; if the Chapter releases Dantiscus from his oath, he too will be able [to do that]. He urges that the Chapter persuade the Cantor to act justly, out of consideration for the safety of the bishop’s income.

Venerabilibus Dominis, praelatis, canonicis et capitulo ecclesiae nostrae Warmiensis, fratribus sincere nobis dilectis

Ioannes Dei gratia episcopus Warmiensis

Venerabiles Domini, fratres sincere nobis dilecti.

Easdemque Fraternitates Vestras felicissime valere optamus.

Ex Heilsberg, XVIII Aprilis anno MDXXXVIII.
