Letter #1954
Ioannes DANTISCUS to Tiedemann GIESEHeilsberg (Lidzbark Warmiński), 1538-10-30
English register:
Dantiscus advises that Alexander Sculteti left Heilsberg (Lidzbark Warmiński) the previous day, having handed Dantiscus Giese’s letter and recounted his own case, but not as boldly as the author [Georg von Suchten] of the note (scheda), which Dantiscus is returning to Giese.
Having first expressed his disapproval of this kind of action, Dantiscus declared to Sculteti that the matter required thought and promised to inform him of his decision within a few days. However, he had him admonished for his common-law marriage, and Sculteti said he would visit again.
Dantiscus intends to send a letter immediately to Felix [Reich] through the Provost of Guttstadt (Dobre Miasto) [Paweł Snopek]. He promises to inform Giese of what he is told in reply. The day before, the Provost sent a hundred ducats to Frauenburg (Frombork) through the administrator [Achatius Trenck]. The other matters will be recounted to Giese by [Mikołaj] Płotowski.
