Magnifice sincere nobis dilecte.

Etsi pro debito muneris tibi iniuncti crebro litteris tuis de omnibus rebus, quae ad nos spectare arbitraris, certiores nos facis, nosque vicissim ad omnia tibi accurate respondemus et quid facto opus, quicque istic nomine nostro agendum sit, frequentibus litteris nostris suggerimus; tamen, credimus, quod propter magnam locorum intercapedinem, qua disiungimur, litterae serius quam oportet perveniunt, et ideo minus miramur, quod, si quid istic non satis ex sententia nobis oboritur, aliunde quam ex tuis litteris cognoscimus, prout nobis modo accidit. Intelleximus enim ex quorundam hominum certa relatione, quod caesarea maiestas ducatum Barensem viceregi Neapolitano donare constituerit pro re bene gesta, quam in proelio, quod cum rege Gallorum nuper habitum est, navavit, nos vero quapiam alia re pro eo ipso ducatu placatos vel contentos efficere.

Tu bene scis, quod nos nihil aliud ab ipsa caesarea maiestate optamus, quam quod iure divino et humano nostrum est, et proinde id ipsum venale non habemus. Quare si quid eiusmodi istic olfeceris et deprehenderis, da operam, ut quam maxime poteris illud avertas eique pro virili tua occurras, caesareamque maiestatem verbis nostris plurimum roges, ne in causa iustissima nobis incommodari patiatur neve nos ad dimittendum sub quibuscumque condicionibus et modis ducatum nostrum Barensem inducere in animum inducat, nam in ea re nullo modo desiderio et voluntati illius satisfacere possemus. Id nos maiestati suae caesareae omni studio et facultate nostra rependere curabimus.

Haec et cetera, quae in rem nostram fore existimabis, solita tua diligentia curare studeas, nosque de omnibus rebus per primum quemque tabellarium reddas certiores.
