Letter #3884

Ioannes [DANTISCUS] to [Johann TYMMERMANN]
Heilsberg (Lidzbark Warmiński), 1539-08-18

English register:

Dantiscus will follow the advice he received from Tymmermann [on the matter of the canons’ concubines].

He encloses a copy of a letter to the [Ermland (Warmia)] Chapter which he sent [earlier] and to which he has not received a reply. He asks if the letter reached the Chapter.

He expresses surprise that Tymmermann did not notify him of the defection of the parish priest of the New Town of Elbing (Nowe Miasto Elbląg) [Ambrosius Feyerobent].

He notifies the addressee of the content of the [new] letter in which he informs the Chapter that he has called on the Allenstein (Olsztyn) administrator [Achatius Trenck] to accompany him to Königsberg for the wedding [of Melchior von Kreytzen’s daughter] and for talks with the Duke [Albrecht I von Hohenzollern-Ansbach]. He declares that in future he intends to also take Tymmermann on similar journeys.

Ioannes etc.

Venerabilis Domine, frater sincere dilecte.

Defecit a nobis parrochus Novae Civitatis Elbingensis Feyero[bent], cuius bona relicta apud consulatum inibi arreste retinui.
