Letter #4817
Ioannes DANTISCUS to Ermland (Warmia) ChapterHeilsberg (Lidzbark), 1540-10-14
English register:
Dantiscus had instructed that the chapter should receive the resolutions of the most recent [Royal Prussian] Diet in Graudenz (Grudziądz), along with the contents of the royal mission given there to the provost [Paweł Płotowski]. He informs them that the subject of the upcoming diet will be taxation. He wishes that, having reviewed the materials sent, the chapter would inform him in advance of any actions he might undertake at the forthcoming session in the interest of the chapter and its subjects.
Dantiscus deems it appropriate to postpone until 1 December a site inspection of the intolerable construction [of a weir] serving the mill [on the Passarge (Pasłęka) river], as the matter cannot be discussed until the boundary between Ermland (Warmia) and Ducal Prussia has been reviewed in accordance with the agreement. He considers it his duty to take up this issue. Therefore, the chapter need neither request his involvement nor thank him so effusively for it.
