Kuringen (Curingia), town in the Low Countires, Prince-Bishopric of Liège, 72 km E of Brussels, now in the Belgian province of Limburg, as part of the city of Hasselt. From ca. 1180 seat of the counts of Loon. After the incorporation of the county of Loon into the Prince-Bishopric of Liège, it became the residence of some of the prince-bishops
