Per gelidas iterum se Gallus transtulit Alpes
In Latium, cum iam sub nive terra riget.
Importuna quidem sunt haec modo tempora belli
Causaque, quam propter sumitur, aequa parum.
Delphicus hoc super eventu quaesitus Apollo,
Quid sibi tam praeceps impetus iste velit,
“Italia exitium Gallorum saepius olim
Ut fuit, hoc etiam tempore”, dixit, “erit”.
