Letter #1732

[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to [Stanisław HOZJUSZ (HOSIUS)]
Löbau (Lubawa), 1537-09-28

English register: Dantiscus justifies himself for not managing to send properly extensive replies to letters received from Hozjusz – he had numerous duties and lots of correspondence to deal with. Dantiscus assures Hozjusz of his positive attitude towards his candidacy for the Warmia canonry. He has turned the matter over to Jan Chojeński to decide, and the letter will give Hozjusz all the details.

Eximie Domine, Amice carissime. Salutem et felicitatem.

Iam non paucas a Dominatione Vestra accepi litteras, quibus, ut volui, hucusque copiose respondere non potui, cum ob has, quibus in praesenti et hoc rerum mearum cursu occupationes distentus sum, tum etiam ob multas in negotiis meis scriptiones, quae lippitudinem fere iam quandam mihi induxerunt. Istas itaque multis lituris pictas, immo oblitas ita, ut vix a me legantur, amanuensi tra[n]scribendas tradidi. Hoc tamen unum, quod Dominatio Vestra summopere a me petit , ad canonicatum meum pertinens, reieci ad communem reverendissimum dominum nostrum episcopum Cracoviensem, a quo omnia intelliget. In eo revera mea in Dominationem Vestram non defuit propensio. Quam optime valere cupio.

Ex castro meo Lubaviensi, XXVIII Septembris MDXXXVII.
