Letter #3514

Elisabeth DONCHE to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Bruges, 1531-06-19

English register:

Elisabeth Donche, the wife of Cornelis De Schepper, thanks Dantiscus for forwarding her husband’s letters to her. As she has learned from his servant that Dantiscus is planning to come to Bruges, she offers him hospitality, and promises that there will be good company to entertain him. Her sister [Joanna] has invited him to a degustation of fresh oysters.

Elisabeth Donche apologises for her poor handwriting. As a woman she does not have the skilled handwriting of a cleric. She recommends Dantiscus to the Lord.
